Manila City- In preparation for the Philippine hosting of the ASEAN Regional Disaster Emergency Response Simulation Exercise 2020 (ARDEX-20), the Office of Civil Defense holds the Final Meeting today 15 January 2020 in Manila City, Metro Manila.
The activity is participated by ASEAN Member States namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Technical Working Group Members from various NDRRMC Member Agencies and LGUs.
ASEC Kristoffer James E. Purisima, Civil Defense Deputy Administrator for Administration and Exercise Director for ARDEX-20 presided the morning session together with Mr. Arnel Capili, Deputy Executive Director of AHA Centre and Enrico Strampelli, Head of Development Cooperation, Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines.
ARDEX is a bi-annual international event that provides an opportunity to practice, evaluate, review, and subsequently improve the regional response mechanisms among ASEAN Member States and other relevant UN and international organizations in handling a major disaster. It is co-organized by the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre) together with the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM).
