The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Chairperson and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana received 20M worth of assistance for Taal evacuees from Melco Resorts-Philippines Foundation in a turn over ceremony held today at the People Power Revolution Memorial Lounge, Department of National Defense Building, Camp Aguinaldo.
The City of Dreams Manila's Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Kevin Benning through MRP Foundation together with Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Chairman and CEO Andrea Domingo turned over the 20 million worth of donations to NDRRMC including 163 portable toilets and tents, as well as relief goods for evacuees affected by the restive Taal.
“Our hearts go to the families affected by Taal volcano's unrest. Driven by the spirit of bayanihan, we hope that our donations could help in safeguarding the health and well-being of the evacures. This is the first among our relief operation efforts, as our colleagues are mobilizing more initiatives in the days and months to come," Benning said.
NDRRMC Executive Director and Undersecretary Ricardo Jalad as well as Department of Health Undersecretary Gerardo Bayugo representing Secretary Francisco Duque III also joined the ceremony.
In a press conference on January 20, 2020, Jalad thanked the government agencies, private partner organizations, and individuals taking part in extending assistance to the affected residents.
“The Office of Civil Defense would like to express its deep gratitude to all government agencies, private partner organizations, and individuals for their efforts to serve our fellow Filipinos affected by Taal eruption. It is inspiring and heartwarming to see the collective effort of everyone to help the people in need.” he said.
NDRRMC will assist on identifying the locations of evacuation center where portable toilets and tents are to be installed.
