Soldiers of the 6th Infantry “Kampilan” Division Training School perform the duck, cover and hold during the earthquake simulation exercise held as part of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management orientation on 24 February 2017.
OCD ARMM facilitated the orientation. Ms. Nova Eloiza Ybañez presented on the Philippine DRRM System while Ms. Gecile Gonzales lectured about Earthquakes. An earthquake simulation exercise was conducted wherein the participants acted as victims while others as responders.
In her closing statement, Ms. Gecile Gonzales highlighted that focus and presence of mind is very important during an earthquake. “Simulation exercises and drills must be taken seriously as they serve as an avenue for practice on what needs to be done in case an actual earthquake happens,” said Ms. Gonzales of OCD ARMM.
