DIRECTOR EDGAR L POSADAS, M.D. has been designated as OCD’s new spokesperson. He is also currently the director of OCD’s Rehabilitation and Recovery Management Service (RRMS).
Dir Posadas has extensive experience in disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM). Formerly serving as OCD Region VIII’s regional director, his leadership was instrumental in a number of disaster operations as well as rehabilitation and recovery activities for the calamity-stricken communities of Region VIII. He has completed multiple trainings and seminars here and overseas and has been given several awards in both his work as a former military man and as a DRRM professional.
To date, he is OCD’s official representative to various international commitments in Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
He is also OCD’s alternate representative in the Task Force Bangon Marawi Technical Working Group.
“Timely and effective communications are crucial elements in the effort to ensure the safety and survival of our people against the threat of hazards and disasters,” Dir. Posadas said. “I assure our friends from the media, specifically, the Defense Press Corps (DPC), that the partnership and good working relationship that OCD has with the DPC will continue so that our people can get the best service in DRRM and Civil Defense.” Posadas added.
A medical doctor by profession, he is a Certified Family Physician by the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP) since 2001 and is also an active member of various professional medical organizations and, very recently, granted accreditation as broadcaster by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP).
“With Dir. Ed’s experience and expertise, we are confident that he would be able to convey to the public OCD’s programs and endeavors to promote national resilience,” said Civil Defense Administrator Usec Ricardo B Jalad.
