The convention aimed at building camaraderie and establishing effective coordination and linkage for a rational and systematic implementation of disaster risk reduction and management policies and programs in the Region.

Ninety City and Municipal DRRM Officers from the Region attended the convention. The Provincial DRRMOs of Isabela, Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino also attended the 3-day activity.

During the Convention, OCD Regional Director Norma C Talosig gave updates on DRRM status of the country including the region. The Vice-Chairs of the 4 thematic areas of DRRM also gave updates on their plans, programs and activities for 2016.

One of the lectures during the convention was the LDRRM Plan Template and the utilization of the Local DRRM Fund. Disaster report development was also discussed and the LDRRMOs agreed and suggested that the Region should provide a template for disaster reporting which will be used by all of them.

Issues and challenges experienced by the LDRRM Officers were also discussed during the convention followed by the sharing of the best practices of LGUs who won in the Gawad KALASAG National Search.

During the closing program, participating LDRRM Officers expressed their gratitude to OCD for coming up with such activity and they hoped that the activity will be done yearly. The participants emphasized that the activity did not only help them widen their contacts or connections by meeting their fellow disaster managers but they also learned a lot from the others in which they can use in their own municipalities.
