The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) inaugurated its new Administration Building in a ceremony held today, June 14, 2022 at Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-funded project is a seven-storey facility built as part of the OCD’s effort to strengthen internal capacity and delivery of services to the public in the field of disaster risk reduction and management and civil defense.

In his speech, Civil Defense Administrator Undersecretary Ricardo Jalad thanked President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's administration for its support in the construction of the facility.

“As we continue to move forward to become a world-class disaster management agency, President Rodrigo Duterte appreciated and saw the importance of upgrading OCD’s facilities and infrastructure. Through his support, and as part of his administration’s Build, Build, Build program, the construction of the new building was made possible.” he said.

“The construction of the building was no easy task. It had to go through rigorous processes of quality checking to ensure the resiliency of the structure. The pandemic also made a dent in the construction schedule. And now, after almost three years, we are here standing in front of the completed new seven-storey administration building of the Office of Civil Defense.” he added.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by NDRRMC Chairperson and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana as Guest of Honor.

In his message, Sec. Lorenzana congratulated and thanked OCD for its work in disaster management.

Usec. Jalad also expressed gratitude to Secretary Lorenzana, the DPWH, and to the entire civil defense workforce.

"This achievement would not be possible without the support of our good NDRRMC Chairperson and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, the DPWH and every single OCD employee. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng suporta at pagtitiwala. Let this edifice be an enduring testament to our commitment to the mission of building a disaster-resilient nation." said Usec. Jalad.

The event was also attended by DPWH Usec. Rafael Yabut, former Civil Defense Administrators and other top government officials and executives from the DND, DPWH, Armed Forces of the Philippines, National Economic and Development Authority, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Science and Technology, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, and partners from Smart Telecommunications Inc., Globe Telecom Inc., and Dito Telecommunity Corporation.

With this milestone, the OCD affirms its commitment to continuously strive for improved public service for the safety and welfare of every Filipino.
