NDRRMC meets anew to discuss temporary shelters for TS ‘Agaton’ victims in Leyte

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) met today, April 25, 2022, to discuss the proposed temporary shelter for the families affected by Tropical Storm (TS) “Agaton” and hold an after-action review of operations.
To address the immediate needs of the affected families in Abuyog and Baybay, the council discussed the proposal for the building of temporary shelters.
It was agreed in the meeting that OCD will be providing the construction materials and funding. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Mines and Geosciences Bureau, on the other hand, was tasked to conduct site assessment.
TD Agaton remains stationary, NDRRMC warns public of landslides, flashloods

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) is reminding the residents of hazard-prone areas to remain vigilant and prepare for possible flash floods and landslides as Tropical Depression “Agaton” remains stationary over the eastern waters of Eastern Visayas.
As of 1:00 p.m. today, the center of TD “Agaton” was spotted 125 kilometers East Southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, and gustiness of up to 55 km/h.
In the latest weather report of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the TD “Agaton” will bring moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Eastern Visayas, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte while light to moderate with at times heavy rains will be experienced over Masbate, Sorsogon, and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao, today until tomorrow morning.

Pinaalalahanan ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) ang publiko na magsagawa ng mga paghahanda at ibayong pag-iingat laban sa mga pagbaha at landslide na posibleng idulot ng malalakas na pag-ulan bunsod ng dalawang binabantayang sama ng panahon sa loob at labas ng Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Sa ulat ng Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), namataan ang isang Low Pressure Area sa loob ng PAR sa layong 185 kilometro silangan hilagang silangan ng Surigao City habang namataan naman sa layong 2,215 km sa silangan ng Mindanao ang tropical storm sa labas ng PAR, kaninang alas-4 nang hapon
OCD to hold public orientation on revised NSTP IRR

The Office of Civil Defense is conducting the online public orientation on the revised Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the National Service and Training Program (NSTP) Act of 2001 on April 12, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. via livestream in the Civil Defense PH pages in Facebook and Youtube.
The provisions of the revised IRR of the NSTP Act of 2001 will be presented by Col Ronald Jess Alcudia of the Philippine Army. This will be followed by the presentation of the Updated Implementing Guidelines and Procedures (IGP) of the National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC) to be presented by OCD Training Specialist Shereen Hombrebueno as well as updates on the Reserve Officers Training Course (ROTC) IGP which will be discussed by Capt John De Villa of the Philippine Navy.
