Strengthening cooperation on DRRM: OCD, Hungarian partners meet anew

National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Executive Director and Civil Defense Administrator Undersecretary Ricardo Jalad met yesterday with Hungarian Ambassador to the Philippines, Dr. Titanilla Toth and Mr. Adrian Kiss, CEO of Hungarian Water Technology Corp. (HWTC) to discuss the strengthening of cooperation in disaster response operations.
The meeting focused on the updates on the Official Development Assistance (ODA) Loan offered by the Government of Hungary to OCD for the purchase of 16 mobile water treatment units from the HWTC.
The OCD previously expressed its intent to avail the ODA for the purchase of additional water treatment units to support other regions in their disaster response operations. The OCD is coordinating with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) to process the Investment Coordination Committee (ICC) requirements for the acquisition of the 16 water treatment units.

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) inaugurated its new Administration Building in a ceremony held today, June 14, 2022 at Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-funded project is a seven-storey facility built as part of the OCD’s effort to strengthen internal capacity and delivery of services to the public in the field of disaster risk reduction and management and civil defense.
In his speech, Civil Defense Administrator Undersecretary Ricardo Jalad thanked President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's administration for its support in the construction of the facility.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Office of CIvil Defense (OCD) thanked stakeholders for joining the Second Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) today, June 9, 2022.
NDRRMC Chairperson and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana in his keynote message urged the public to continuously support and engage in preparedness activities.
“Ang pagpapatuloy ng mga pagsasanay na ito ang nagbibigay kapanatagan sa ating mga mamamayan na ang ating pamahalaan at buong lipunan ay may kakayahan at hindi tumitigil sa paghahanda upang harapin ang mga kalamidad na maaaring danasin ng ating bayan.” he said.
